HYDROCHEM MP-100T

Metal Precipitant

Bottle 1 – Fouled Calcium Bromide solution; Iron > 60 ppm

Bottle 2 – Addition of Hydrochem MP-100T; solution turns dark with a black precipitate.  Precipitate begins to settle to the bottom.

Bottle 3 – Sample filtered; Iron < 1.0 ppm

DESCRIPTION AND USE

HYDROCHEM MP-100T  is a sodium trithiocarbonate solution designed for use as an efficient metal precipitant for metal removal in water and wastewater solutions, glycol solutions including ethylene glycol, and calcium bromide solutions.  Other applications can be laboratory tested for applicability.

PHYSICAL APPLICATION

HYDROCHEM MP-100T is a cost effective means of metal removal that functions over a wide range of pH and temperature.  It precipitates both simple and complex/chelated metals and is effective against all multivalent metal ions (Cd2+, Co2+, Cr6+, Cu2+, Fe2+, Hg2+, Ni2+, Pb2+, and Zn2+).  HYDROCHEM MP-100T produces a dense, low-volume sludge.  The high-solids sludge is easily dewatered.

TREATMENT/FEEDING REQUIREMENTS

The reaction of HYDROCHEM MP-100T with heavy metals is essentially stoichiometric.  A table of approximate active pounds of product required to precipitate one pound of metal can be provided.

WASTE DISPOSAL, STORAGE & HANDLING

An important factor in metal precipitation and waste treatment is the disposal of sludge.  HYDROCHEM MP-100T generally produces a sludge that weighs less per unit of metal precipitated and is lower in volume than some common treatments such as hydroxide and sulfide precipitation.

HYDROCHEM MP-100T should be shipped and stored in 304 stainless steel or better, fiberglass or plastic.  Mild steel, copper, brass and aluminum should not be used.

Like many chemicals used as metal precipitants, HYDROCHEM MP-100T exhibits toxicity to aquatic species and should not be discharged directly into lakes or streams.
